ABOUT THE VALLEY

La Valle dei Fulmini is a photographic project born in Ticino, on the southern side of the Swiss Alps.It began in 2019, when a fascination for night landscapes gradually turned into something more unpredictable: chasing thunderstorms. Most of these photographs are created at night, across Southern Switzerland and Northern Italy — a territory where warm summer air, humidity and the geography of the mountains frequently combine to produce powerful storms. But photographing lightning is not simply a matter of pointing a camera at the sky.It means reading the weather, anticipating a storm, finding its path, moving around it, knowing when to wait and when to retreat. It means learning how to dance with the storm.La Valle dei Fulmini brings together photography, weather, landscape and science — capturing moments that exist for only a fraction of a second and will never happen in exactly the same way again.
